The Randolph YMCA Sharks are bringing back our annual Swim-a-Thon!
Your support of the Swim-a-thon allows the team to do things like help support our National Team’s trip, improve our various social events and parties like our annual Season Kick-off event, our end of year banquet, Holiday parties, and our Movie and Bowling Nights. These funds would also provide us with the ability to provide new equipment, as well as apparel and other swag to championship competitors as a reward for all of their incredible accomplishments. In addition, a portion of our proceeds will go towards providing swim lessons to low income families that may not have the ability to afford the opportunity to learn this life saving skill.
Since 1844, the Randolph Y has always been committed to provide quality programs that help strengthen the mind, body, spirit and community. In addition to aquatics, the Y provides after school care, health, rehabilitation, and fitness programs for all ages, senior activities and summer day camp programs, and the best part is that no one is turned away for inability to pay. This year we are focusing our efforts on providing swim lessons, because our team understands the importance of water safety and we hope that many of the young children who learn to swim at the Y will someday be a part of our competitive swim program. Drowning is the second leading cause of death among children ages 1 to 14, and we have the ability to prevent drowning by providing swim lessons to all children, regardless of their ability to pay.
Since I’ve started working with the Y, I have seen first-hand the impact that learning to swim has on our team and our community, and I realize how important you are to helping create that impact. Working in aquatics for 25 years, I have seen the importance of teaching a child how to swim. It’s not just about teaching a valuable life skill, but teaching a child (or adult!) to face a challenge head on. Not only does it boost someone’s confidence in the water (and is a literal life saver), but it helps them to become more confident when they approach any challenge!
Our team goal is $10,000. This is an incredible number that will go a long way to helping your child, as well as our community. Remember, no matter what the amount, any contribution is incredibly valuable. Every dollar counts! We couldn’t provide the support to families who need it without YOUR support to the campaign.
